The first couple of weeks of school can be challenging for teachers. Some children are entering the classroom for the very first time, which may cause anxiety. When children become anxious, they may display sadness, fear, difficulty paying attention, amongst other behaviors.
Teachers have prepared the classroom and great activities for the children. However, managing criers, bathroom breaks, classroom introductions, and transitions may lead to staff feeling overwhelmed.
Validate the teaching staff. Recognize and affirm the staff’s feelings and opinions. A moment of validation leads to staff feeling worthy and valued.
Building teachers is valuable in the long haul. A calm, stress-free teacher will display healthier interactions with the children.
